Quick Cocoa and Date Balls

When you want something sweet - but also healthy, these cocoa and date balls, with raw tahini and almond butter, are a quick and pleasing solution

Quick cocoa and date balls

Ingredients

  • 10 medjool dates, pitted
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (without additions such as sugar etc.)
  • 3 tablespoons raw tahini, preferably from wholegrain sesame
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter.

Coating

  • Quarter cup coconut flakes or cocoa powder, whichever you prefer

Preparation

  • Grind all the ingredients in a food processor / stick blender until you get a smooth and uniform mixture.
  • If necessary you can add a little water to the mixture during the grinding.
  • Wet your hands and roll the mixture into small balls (approx. 2 to 3 cms. diameter).
  • Roll each ball in the coating you prefer: coconut flakes or cocoa powder.
  • Place on a shallow bowl or box and put in the freezer for at least 15 minutes so that the balls will stabilize.
  • You can pack 2-3 balls into a box or small plastic bag and add to mishloach manot or as a gift, or take them to work for those moments when you fancy something sweet.
